Austin Film Festival’s Script Consultation program connects emerging voices with established writers, managers, and agents within our community. This opportunity leverages AFF’s comprehensive evaluation guidelines and longstanding industry partnerships to ensure a detailed analysis of your latest project.
The AFF Script Consultation Program will provide writers the opportunity to submit a feature or TV pilot script and receive thoughtful and comprehensive verbal notes from an industry professional via Zoom in a one-hour one-on-one consultation.
You’ll have our full attention!
Hollywood Executives usually only read the first 20 pages of your script, but these industry veterans will not only read your full script but also provide constructive feedback based on their experiences working in film and television. These hour-long discussions offer insightful notes, industry insider perspective, and invaluable practice for navigating the development process.

Through this program you don’t have to wonder why a plot point was confusing to the reader, you can ask in real time.
How it Works:
- You submit a feature or TV pilot below and well put it in the hands of our impressive consultant team!
- AFF will pair your script with a reputable industry professional
- The industry professional will read your script and prepare feedback
- AFF will help schedule a date for the consultation based on both of your availabilities.
- Your script consultation will be scheduled within 45-60 days of your submission.
- You and the consultant have an hour-long Zoom discussion about your script and you walk away with the tools to take your script (and career) to the next level!
Conversation may include
- Notes on character, dialogue, structure, concept, plot
- A thorough, extensive, honest, and constructive evaluation of your story
- A professional assessment of your script’s market potential
Requirements:
- $250 for feature screenplays
- $200 for 1 hour and ½ hour original teleplay pilots
- A pdf of your script, a logline, and a list of comparable films
Who are our consultants?
Our team of consultants consistent of talented and active individuals in the industry. These individuals have made waves in the industry as producers, managers, directors, editors, or writers and have at least 10 years of experience. From those currently staffed on a show to those with films in development, Austin Film Festival’s consultants will be able to give you informative, topical advice on your script.
