The best thing a writer can do to become a better writer is to read, watch, listen to and embrace other genres of storytelling, ones that are different from his or her own. Screenwriters who see plays, playwrights who read or listen to fiction, or prose writers who watch movies – you can bet their own stories are elevated to a higher level by taking off the blinders and soaking up other breeds of writing. The Austin Film Festival recognizes that and has expanded its corral to include not only screenwriters and television writers but also playwrights, fiction podcast writers and digital series writers. Our Conference and Festival offers participants the perfect environment to open up the creative senses to more forms of storytelling. It will also offer an action-packed arena for networking and crossover events that can lead to exciting new job opportunities.
AFF offers four Badge levels for entry into our October festival. Badge holders not only have priority entry into all eight days of films, they also receive entry into Conference Panels (days dependent on badge level).

Film & Food Fundraising Party
Attend the annual Film & Food Fundraising Party – the yearly fete that kicks off the Festival & Conference. Film & Food is an evening dedicated to honoring Austin as both a nationally recognized thriving film industry and a renowned culinary hotspot. This evening of flowing cocktails and innovative cuisine, presented by some of Austin’s hottest restaurants, brings together Austinites and visitors alike to celebrate the arts. It’s a great time to rub elbows with some of the top filmmakers and screenwriters in town for the Festival.

Did you submit a script or film in this year’s competitions? If so, you are eligible for a discount off the current price of a Producers ($60 off) or Conference ($35 off) Badge (does not apply to Weekend and Lone Star Badges).

Parties
Our nightly parties are an excellent wind-down from our jam-packed days of panels, roundtables and film screenings. These casual gatherings offer the opportunity to mingle, meet, and conspire with other writers with a big fat martini or brewsky in hand. The seeds to many a Hollywood deal have been planted at one of our late night parties.

Badge & Purchase Policies
Badges and privileges may be revoked at any time for any reason at AFF’s sole discretion, without any liability to AFF. By purchasing a badge, ticket, or other AFF materials, you hereby release and hold harmless AFF and its subsidiaries and affiliated companies, successors, assigns, and licensees, and their respective officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims resulting in connection with an AFF event.
You are solely responsible for ensuring AFF receives full payment for any AFF purchases you make. If such payment cannot be charged to your credit card, or if a charge is refunded for any reason, including chargeback, you agree we reserve the right to cancel your order. If you have already received your Badge you agree to immediately correct any payment errors upon notice of such error. AFF reserves the right to collect a $100 administrative fee in addition to any unpaid amounts in connection with any bad checks or uncorrected payment problems.

Refunds
Refund requests for the Festival & Conference must be in writing, postmarked by July 15, 2026. All refunds will incur a $75 processing fee. After July 15, 2026, all payments (including badge or pass purchases) are non-refundable for any reason, including, but not limited to illness, acts of God, or travel-related problems. Badges are non-transferable and are the property of Austin Film Festival, Inc. Unused registrations cannot be credited for future year’s attendance.
Badge Photos
All Badgeholders are required to have their pictures printed on their credentials (Film Passholders are not required to send in a photo.)
After purchasing your Badge, please upload a genuine passport-style photo (NO AI generated photos) to www.theaff.com/festivalphotos/. If we do not receive your photo, your Badge WILL NOT be available for pickup at pre-registration, and you can expect a 1-2 hour wait at registration while we take and print your picture on-site.
Purchasing Badges for Multiple People
If you are purchasing badges for multiple people, you will be asked to enter the names that should appear on each of the badges after clicking add to cart. If you need to change these names, please contact info@austinfilmfestival.com or call 1-800-310-3378.
Film Pass Policies
Film Passes are non-refundable for any reason.
Film Admission Policy: If you are a Film Pass holder, AFF cannot guarantee entry into a screening due to the priority access given to AFF’s Festival Badgeholders. When you arrive at a film venue, please check in with the Theater Manager on duty and inform him/her that you are a Film Pass holder. The manager should be able to tell you at that time if you have a realistic chance of getting into the screening. If there is, you will be allowed to wait inside the lobby. If numbered queue cards are still available (after being distributed to the Badge line) for guests in the Film Pass line, you will be issued a numbered queue card on a first come, first served basis while Badgeholders are being let in. If you have an aide with you who also has a film pass, he/she must remain in the film pass line and can hold your numbered queue card. If you require continual access to your aide, he/she will be permitted to wait in the lobby with you. Once all Badgeholders have been seated, you may enter the venue to take your seat. If you have an aide in the Film Pass line outside, he/she will have to wait and enter in order according to his/her numbered queue card.
* For admittance into parties, all attendees must be 21 or over.
Film Admission Policies
Badgeholders and Film Passholders MUST be in line no later than 20 minutes prior to the scheduled start time. Priority admission is given to all Badgeholders. Film Pass holders will be seated after all Badgeholders have entered the theater. General Admission (GA) tickets will go on sale 20 minutes prior to each screening. Once General Admission tickets have gone on sale, Badgeholders and Film Passholders will no longer have priority admittance. Badgeholders and Film Passholders arriving AFTER the 20 minutes mark must go to the back of the General Admission line. ALL theater seating will be on a first come, first served basis. Neither Badgeholders nor Film Passholders are guaranteed a seat, only admission up to capacity. NO ONE will be admitted into the theater 15 minutes after start time. Austin Film Festival Staff will adhere to this policy even in the event of a delayed screening. Thank you for your cooperation. *SPECIAL EVENTS MAY REQUIRE PURCHASE OF SEPARATE TICKET FOR ENTRY.
* For admittance into parties, all attendees must be 21 or over.
