STAFF PICK: THE OTHER FELLOW
By Carla Click
“Do you define your name or does your name define you,” is the general question explored in THE OTHER FELLOW, a documentary about people named “James Bond.”
Paying homage to spy thriller movies, Matthew Bauer offers a clever telling of everyday people who share a name so famous, it’s rarely said without repeating the last name with a faux-suave accent: “Bond, James Bond.”
A relatively simple name, one plucked by Ian Flemming from an ornithology book and catapulted by the popularity of the 007 series, it has inspired some to take on the persona of James Bond, others to change their name entirely, and many who decided “James Bond” is their name to make for themselves despite the assumptions that come along with the name.
