AUSTIN FILM FESTIVAL AND ROOSTER TEETH ANNOUNCE NEW FELLOWSHIP AWARD
The Rooster Teeth Fellowship Award will be presented as part of AFF’s Script Competitions
AUSTIN, TX (March 19, 2019) — Austin Film Festival (AFF) and Rooster Teeth are partnering to launch the Inaugural “Rooster Teeth Fellowship Award” to be presented at the 26th Annual Austin Film Festival. This new award will be available in conjunction with AFF’s existing Script Competitions and is open to all scripted submissions that embody the Rooster Teeth genre.
The Rooster Teeth Fellowship Award is open to original scripts in the following categories: features, TV pilots, digital series, and fiction podcasts. The fellowship will be awarded to the project that best fits Rooster Teeth’s voice by incorporating elements of comedy and genre filmmaking and accomplishing a low budget/high concept feel. Rooster Teeth is looking for stories about ordinary people in extraordinary situations, coming-of-age stories, and other engaging journeys of self-discovery.
The winner of the Rooster Teeth Fellowship Award will receive a $5,000 prize along with a one-on-one mentorship with Rooster Teeth. This will include feedback and notes from a Rooster Teeth representative on the winning Fellowship script and a week-long mentorship in Austin with all travel expenses covered. In addition to the Fellowship Award, Rooster Teeth will offer development deals to three (3) finalists, who will be given the chance to develop an original concept in conjunction with the Rooster Teeth team. Rooster Teeth will review the top scripts submitted to the category and will determine the finalists and one winner. Finalists will be given the opportunity to meet with representatives from Rooster Teeth during AFF’s Writers Festival, held this October 24 –31, 2019.
“Austin Film Festival is honored to announce the launch of this inaugural fellowship in partnership with Rooster Teeth. Our organization is proud to offer continued opportunities for aspiring storytellers and this fellowship award will be a path for emerging voices to find industry success in Austin’s own backyard.” said Executive Director, Barbara Morgan.
“We’re thrilled to be able to offer this fellowship in conjunction with Austin Film Festival,” said Ryan P. Hall, Head of Development at Rooster Teeth. “We’ve always believed in investing in the Austin entertainment scene and developing projects here. We can’t wait to see what stories come our way!”
AFF’s Script Competitions are currently open for submissions with a March 29 Early Deadline, April 19 Regular Deadline, and May 15 Late Deadline. For more information including rules, eligibility, and how to submit, please visit www.austinfilmfestival.com.
