Six Square Summer Film Camp Scholarship
We are so excited to be collaborating with Six Square to host two weeks of our Summer Film Program within the District! The Six Square Cultural District is the six-square mile area in which the AFF office is located and is known for its vibrant arts scene and cultural significance to Austin’s Black community.
As an extension of our Annual Summer Film Camp, this program will provide scholarships and a unique arts education opportunity to young creatives who provide an interest and budding talent for screenwriting and filmmaking. Led by industry professionals, AFF’s Summer Film Program provides campers with the equipment and instruction needed to create their very own short films. Our instructors will be there to guide students through every step of the filmmaking process, from conception through the final product!
The following classes will be offered for the Six Square Summer Film Program:
Making a film is not easy, but don’t worry; we are here to help! In this intensely hands-on workshop, you’ll discover how to translate your ideas from the page to the screen by learning storytelling techniques, screenwriting, directing, camera operation, sound recording, and editing. Campers will learn the basics of filmmaking, then team up to create their very own short films. For the overall filmmaking experience, this workshop can’t be beat! At the end of the week, campers will receive a link to their work. No previous filmmaking or video editing experience is needed. 10 student scholarship spots available per session.
A good film comes from a good story. Story is where is all begins! In this in-depth workshop, students will learn tried and tested storytelling techniques used in Hollywood films since they began. Our instructors will take campers through the entire process – from crafting an idea, to producing, staging, and shooting a short film. Students will discover the power of good storytelling as well as screenwriting, directing, camera operation, sound recording, and editing as they team up to produce their very own short film! 10 student scholarship spots available per session.
Camp will be held at Vesper located at 3106 E 14 1/2 St, Austin, TX 78702.
