Austin Film Festival is pleased to announce our continued support of the Children’s Blood & Cancer Center at Dell’s Children’s Medical Center of Central Texas. AFF’s involvement with the Children’s Blood and Cancer Center spans from organizing film camps and workshops, hosting special screenings for cancer patients and family members, and sponsoring the film-themed Teen Infusion Room in the Specialty Pediatrics Building. The Teen Room provides a calming environment to watch movies on the big-screen television, as well as tablets and laptops. It has steadily become a place of comfort for the children while they receive life-saving treatments that often last for many hours.
Austin Film Festival will kick off our participation by hosting a free workshop during Spring Break for patients undergoing treatments. Filmmakers from Austin Film Festival will guide kids through creating their own stop motion characters and short films. Our goal is to bring these young minds to a different place of imagination and creation during this very difficult treatment phase.
We’re also thrilled to be participating in Amplify Austin this year on behalf of the Children’s Blood and Cancer Center. If you aren’t familiar with Amplify Austin, read on! In a nutshell, donations made to Austin Film Festival on March 20th and March 21st are doubled!. We then donate ALL proceeds to the Children’s Blood and Cancer Center. This is an amazing way to double the impact you can make in our community..
All proceeds from these events are donated to the Children’s Blood and Cancer Center.
We’ll keep you updated on this very special partnership and different ways to get involved! For more information or matching donor opportunities, please contact our Outreach coordinator Michelle Randolph Faires at michelle@austinfilmfestival.com or 512-478-4795
