MEET THE PANELISTS
MATT DARTNELL

Matt Dartnell is a California-bred literary manager with a deep love for film, television, podcasts, and the unique voices and strange perspectives that generate these stories. His specialty is helping creatives navigate the ups and downs of Hollywood while developing great material for a variety of mediums. When not at the office, you can find him watching genre films, eating burgers, or hanging out with his dog.
Matt Dy
Matt Dy attended the University of Texas at Austin and received a Bachelor of Science in Radio/TV/Film with a focus on screenwriting. He recently joined Adam Kolbrenner’s newly formed Lit Entertainment Group as a literary manager. Previously, he worked at Austin Film Festival (AFF) since 2008 where he served as the Director of Script Competitions and facilitated the evaluation of thousands of annual script submissions reaching a record 10,580 submissions in 2018. During his time at AFF, he helped shepherd the careers of countless writers and connect them with various top agents, managers, and producers.
Audrey Knox
Audrey Knox’s half-hour comedy pilot SHAM OF A MARRIAGE was a 2020 Scriptapalooza fellowship finalist and made the Top 25 in Tracking Board’s Launch Pad Pilots Competition. She has worked her way up from Receptionist to Manager at Cartel Entertainment and has experience in both scripted and unscripted television, on set, in production, and in writers’ rooms. She has a BFA in Screenwriting from Chapman University’s Dodge College of Film and Media Arts, and a five-year-old rescue mutt who has performed with the hit comedy rap trio “Three Loco.”
Daniel Seco
A former sports journalist covering U.S. Soccer, MLB, and the NBA, Seco began his Hollywood career in 2013 at Resolution. He joined CAA in 2014 where he worked in the motion picture literary department before venturing into literary management on the feature side at Writ Large in 2015 as a coordinator/junior manager. A series of consulting jobs including a stop at Netflix in its Original Film department gave way to Seco teaming up with Gavin Dorman at Schemers Entertainment as a literary manager in 2018. Currently, Seco is a literary manager and partner at Empirical Evidence, a literary creative company founded by Derrick Eppich. Seco is a proud graduate of the University of Maryland and the University of Florida as well as a cancer survivor.
Karen Kirkland

Karen is an industry veteran, who over the past 29 years has been involved in various aspects of the film and television industry; stemming from an independent producing background, she has been nominated for multiple MTV Music Video Awards, won an NAACP Image Award for Video of the Year, and served as the producer of the LA Film Festival. Formerly, as Nickelodeon’s VP, Talent Development, Karen spent 13+ years identifying, developing and staffing writing talent through the Nickelodeon Writing Program. Karen is an international speaker, having led writing workshops around the world. She has been a judge for numerous screenwriting award competitions including the BANFF World Media Festival, the UCLA Screenwriter’s Showcase and the Austin Film Festival Screenplay Competition. In 2017, Karen founded The Breakk; a 3-day creative retreat that brings female television writers together with top entertainment execs and working industry professionals.
