Austin Film Festival is thrilled to announce the launch of our first ever crowdfunding campaign, dedicated to supporting our growing On Story Project.
Austin Film Festival has always been focused on the writer and the belief that storytelling is the heart of film. Through On Story, we now bring the lively conversations from the Festival directly to audiences around the country for free. Celebrated screenwriters, creators, and filmmakers share their wisdom and behind-the-scenes stories that entertain and enlighten film-loving audiences while encouraging aspiring storytellers.
Now kicking off its 8th season, On Story is a multimedia project consisting of an Emmy-award winning television show delivered to 88% of PBS stations nationwide and available online; an acclaimed podcast with over one million downloads; an internationally distributed radio show produced in partnership with Public Radio International; a three-part book series published by UT Press; and a unique public archive available at the Wittliff Collections of Texas State University.
Since its beginning, On Story has been funded through Festival and Conference proceeds, supplemented by generous but non-recurring grants. But as offerings have expanded and content multiplied, production costs have risen, too.
In response to these rising costs and the substantial decrease in public media funding, Austin Film Festival is launching a crowdfunding campaign to help fund the production of On Story and continue to improve the quality of our programming. We are looking to you, lovers of story and champions of the arts, to show your support for On Story. With your donation, On Story can continue to celebrate filmmakers, creators, and screenwriters by giving them a platform to share deeper, behind-the-scenes looks into today’s most celebrated films & television series.
Won’t you join us?
