MEET DALE LAUNER
Dale Launer is the screenwriter of Ruthless People, which was produced and released in 1986 by Touchstone/Disney. This was followed by Blind Date, which was heavily re-written by other writers insists on neither taking credit or blame. His next movie was a remake of 1965 Bedtime Story, which he option, re-wrote and executive-produced as Dirty Rotten Scoundrels at Orion Picture. After that, he wrote, directed and produced Love Potion #9, and then wrote and produced My Cousin Vinny, both at 20th Century Fox.
He also wrote the spec screenplay Bad Dog which he sold to Dreamworks. The sale is considered to be one of the biggest screenplay sales in history.
In 2003 Launer was chosen as the keynote speaker for NAB’s “Digital Cinema Summit” where he discussed ways that explore new and innovative production methods exploited by the new digital technologies. Methods which are commonly used now.
He also wrote and directed Tom’s Nu Heaven, an early “High Definition” film which won Best Picture at the 2007 Monaco Film Festival.
In 2016, Launer was honored to have 2 movies placed in the WGA’s 101 Funniest Movies of All Time.
