Back by popular demand, join us at 4th Tap Brewing Co-op for a casual and informative Roundtable workshop covering all-things film making! In the spirit of AFF’s popular Roundtable sessions during our Writers Conference, this event will offer exclusive and intimate access to local filmmakers, producers, distributors, and industry insiders with knowledge and experience to share. Visit different tables during the event and get some one-on-one access with our esteemed guests. Attendees are encouraged to ask specific questions about the creative and business aspects of film making. “Meet the Crew” at this roundtable session – learn how to navigate every department on a set and hear from people working in the industry as to standards and expectations.

Meet the Crew!
Miguel Alvarez - Director
Austin-based filmmaker Miguel Alvarez has received awards from the Directors’ Guild of America, Panavision’s Emerging Filmmaker program, the National Hispanic Foundation for the Arts, the National Association of Latino Arts and Culture, and the Austin Film Society for his films,Tadpoles, Veterans, KID and Mnemosyne Rising, and Atlantic City. He was a Screenwriting fellow for the Latino Screenwriting Project sponsored by Cinefestival and Sundance and one of the inaugural participants in the Kickstarter-Kodak Initiative. He also currently serves as Executive Producer of Austin Film Festival’s television show, On Story.

John Merriman - Acting
He’s also one of the hosts and producers of “Inside Joke”, the Moontower Comedy Festival’s video interview series and has interviewed dozens of comedy luminaries since the festival’s beginning. He has written for the Moontower news site since 2013.
John was born in Houston, Texas. He attended Connecticut College where he majored in Psychology. He has called Austin his home since 1996.
