Back by popular demand, join us at 4th Tap Brewing Co-op for a casual and informative Roundtable workshop covering all-things film making! In the spirit of AFF’s popular Roundtable sessions during our Writers Conference, this event will offer exclusive and intimate access to local filmmakers, producers, distributors, and industry insiders with knowledge and experience to share. Visit different tables during the event and get some one-on-one access with our esteemed guests. Attendees are encouraged to ask specific questions about the creative and business aspects of film making. “Meet the Crew” at this roundtable session – learn how to navigate every department on a set and hear from people working in the industry as to standards and expectations.
Stop by as early as 6:30 for an opportunity to connect with other up-and-coming Austin filmmakers in a casual environment. Whether you’re currently working on a project or are just curious about taking that first step as a filmmaker, take advantage of this invaluable experience to network and learn.
MEET THE PANELISTS
Jennifer Hutchins - Producers Guild of America
JENNIFER HUTCHINS has produced over 200 episodes of television for CBS, CNN, A&E, Spike, TLC, Syfy, Discovery, Speed, NatGeo and SXSW Festival.
Some of her TV highlights are having produced two separate series with magician Criss Angel – 100 episodes of “Criss Angel Mindfreak,” and “Criss Angel BeLIEve”; and producing two separate car-themed shows with Adam Carolla – “The Car Show” and “To Catch A Car Guy.” She has produced several TV shows in the paranormal space – Syfy’s “Haunted Collector,” and “Ghost Hunters International.” Jennifer has also produced and directed for “Dr. Phil.”
She additionally has produced 4 high profile independent features films, 3 of which are available on VOD channels and sold globally while the 4th is in post.
Jennifer is founding the Producers Guild of America (PGA) Austin chapter and holds a monthly event that helps creatives with the business of entertainment called “Austin Entertainment Business”.
Brian Gannon - Austin Film Commission
Brian Gannon has worked for the Austin Film Commission for six years and been the Director of the AFC for the past two and a half years. Prior to that, he supervised content and video creation at Paul Bernhard Exhibits Design, worked in various areas of film production freelance and as a production liaison at the Texas Film Commission. He was born in Ireland and lived Boston and Milwaukee before moving to Austin a decade ago. Brian received a BA in Film Production and English BA from University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. The Austin Film Commission works to bring film, television and commercial production to Austin as well as advocating and assisting with production locally.
Andrew Logan - Screenwriting
Andrew Logan is a writer and producer based in Austin, TX. As a writer, Andrew was listed on the 2015 Black List for the screenplay he co-wrote called Chappaquiddick, a political thriller that chronicles the true story of what is described as the seven most dramatic days of Senator Ted Kennedy’s life. The film, directed by John Curran, and starring Jason Clarke, Kate Mara, and Ed Helms, is currently in post-production. Additionally, Andrew co-produced two 2014 Sundance Film Festival premieres: Kat Candler’s Hellion, starring Aaron Paul and Juliette Lewis, and Todd Rohal’s Rat Pack Rat, which won the Special Jury Prize for Unique Vision. He also produced Until We Could, a short film directed by David Lowery & Yen Tan and narrated by Robin Wright & Ben Foster, which screened at Outfest Film Festival and the Cannes Court Métrage in 2014. Most recently, he produced 6 Years directed by Hannah Fidell and the documentary The Jones Family Will Make a Way. Both premiered at SXSW in 2015. He also is an executive producer on Rick Alverson’s Entertainment, which premiered at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival. Andrew also served as a story consultant on the documentary Richard Linklater—dream is destiny, which premiered at the 2016 Sundance Film Festival.
Micah Barber - Directing
Micah Barber is an emerging kids & family Director from Austin, Texas.
He has been recognized by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences as a Director (Student Academy Award Finalist, 2012) and Screenwriter (Nicholl Fellowship Semifinalist, 2014).
Micah’s imagination and sense of joy & wonder attracted the attention of Terrence Malick’s wife, Alexandra, who asked to produce INTO THE WHO KNOWS!, his first feature film. It is repped for worldwide sales by AMG in Los Angeles.
Micah’s next movie, WINTER ISLAND, is in active development.
