LIVE FICTION PODCAST SCRIPT READING
In our inaugural year of the Fiction Podcast Competition and Conference Track, we are excited to add a fiction podcast to this year’s lineup of script readings.

Jenna’s a geologist and cave-diver who just ran out of funding. Her father runs a megachurch facing financial collapse. But Jenna just found an awful secret underground that might solve both their problems… if it doesn’t kill them first.

THE SCRIPT READING WORKSHOPS
Six scripts have been chosen from this year’s group of Semifinalists and Finalists in the Screenplay, Playwriting, and Fiction Podcast Competitions to be read aloud in our Script Reading Workshops. These selected scripts will be performed by a group of actors in an intimate setting. The read-throughs will be bare-bones. With only actors and the words on the page, it is the ultimate testament to the quality of a screenplay. All readings will be held at InterContinental Stephen F Austin, State Board Room.
Script Reading Workshop #1: Miki (2017 Playwriting Finalist)
Friday 10/27, 3:00PM – 4:30PM
Logline: After his Buddhist mother passes away of cancer, an alcoholic college circuit comic on the road reluctantly delivers her prayer bracelet to his estranged high school Jewish sweetheart in Chicago. The death that reconnects these two as adults turns out to be their source of salvation.
Script by Weiko Lin
Script Reading Workshop #2: Tick Tock: The Vagenda (2017 Sitcom Pilot Second Rounder)
Friday 10/27, 5:15PM – 6:00PM
Logline: Cristina, Judy, and Tiffany (the best of friends) live in the big bad city since graduating from NYU over a decade ago. Although they are still considered hot in a manscape of aging hipsters and lumbersexuals, their eggs are considered geriatric. Now they have to answer the biggest biological question every woman faces… to preg or not to preg?
Written by: Tiffany Hodges, Cristina Doikos, & Judy Jerome
Script Reading Workshop #3: Curse and Judgment (2017 AMC One-Hour Pilot Semifinalist)
Saturday 10/28, 1:00PM – 2:30PM InterContinental Stephen F Austin, Boardroom

Written by: Michael Bucklin
Script Reading Workshop #5: Rebecca and Quinn Get Scared (2017 Comedy Finalist)
Saturday 10/28, 5:00PM – 7:00PM
Logline: It’s Romy and Michelle meets The Conjuring in this comedy/horror about two best friends who ditch their overpriced, dead-end lives in NYC to open a bed & breakfast in rural Maine…only to find out that the place is totally haunted.
Written by Cylin Busby & Nanci Katz
Script Reading Workshop #6: The Amelia Project (2017 Fiction Podcast Finalist)
Sunday 10/29, 3:00PM- 5:00PM
The Amelia Project offers a very special service: faking its clients’ deaths! Its eccentric clientele includes cult leaders, politicians and porn stars, all desperate to disappear and start over, but how long can the secrecy last?
