What is Claymation? It’s stop-motion animation. Students positioning student-made creations to tell a story frame-by-frame. It requires patience. And time. But above all else, Claymation Creations is incredible fun. It’s a get-in-there, hands-on experience that engages creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork. Campers will discover how Hollywood claymation films are made as they work individually and in teams to bring clay objects and figures to life with three-dimensional stop-motion animation.

This exciting and collaborative class is intended for students that have already made multiple films or who have attended Summer Film Camp before. We tend to move quickly with this class, deciding on an idea and getting you behind the camera as quickly as possible. We’ll provide more feedback, and push students to expand their creative storytelling ideas. This year, AFF is partnering with ZACH Theatre, which means our advanced students will have the opportunity to direct ZACH summer camp actors with experience.

The deadline for consideration is May 8th, 2015. Incomplete applications will not be processed. Download the form below and email it to, fax to 512.478.6205, or mail to:

Summer Camp Scholarship Application

As is always the case when it comes to AFF, our Summer Film Camp is all about storytelling. In this immersive and creative environment, we’ll guide campers to find and tell their own stories. Then teach them how to turn those stories into their very own movie with a passionate group of their inspired peers

These workshops are designed for aspiring filmmakers and taught by professional filmmakers. We’ve been at this for a while now, and our curriculum just gets better and better under a laser-focus review process heavily-based on previous attendees’ and parents’ feedback. One thing we’ve learned is that at our camp, there really is something for everyone. Are you an artist? Come learn how to storyboard. Are you a technical prodigy? Come discover the power of getting just the right shot or recording the perfect sound. Want to be in front of the camera? Come play a part (or two). The best thing about AFF Summer Film Camp is that everyone gets a chance to do everything.

Plus, each year we feature exclusive guest speakers that are major Hollywood writers, producers, or directors. You won’t get that at Summer Math Camp.

And finally, to finish it all off with a bang, AFF will host the Summer Camp Showcase – where students who attended camp will get to show off their hard work and short films on the big screen. Family and friends are all invited to join in the fun.
