CONFERENCE INTERN

Job Description: The Conference Department celebrates writers' contributions to film & television. During four days of panels, screenwriters & filmmakers network & learn the tricks of the trade -- the art, craft & business of screenwriting & filmmaking - from the masters themselves, leading Hollywood writers, directors, producers, agents, managers and production company executives. Intern will assist the Conference Director in coordinating these numerous panels and arrange travel and accommodations for our distinguished guests.

Job Requirements: People skills are a must. You must be comfortable on the phone, able to multitask, and highly organized. It is preferred that you have an interest in film and film-related events. Examples of duties include: assisting in mail outs, arranging travel itineraries, putting together press packets, research contact information w/agencies and/or panelists, marketing, and overseeing volunteers during Conference.

DEVELOPMENT INTERN

Job Description: Assistant to the Development Director. A typical day will include negotiating festival promotion for food trade with local restaurants, digging up any info you can on a potential sponsorship target, writing a marketing proposal for a local business, with time in there somewhere for vetting venues for one of our late night festival parties and updating our sponsorship database.

Job Requirements: People skills and time management skills are a must. Intern must be comfortable on the phone and a creative writer. Marketing/Sales Background Preferred, but not required.

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR INTERN

Job Description: Assists the Executive Director and the Executive Assistant with daily tasks. Duties include running errands, performing administrative tasks, marketing, and some PR work. Opportunity provided to gain event planning experience and learn the logistics of producing an annual film festival.

Job Requirements: Seeking motivated individual with self-management characteristics and excellent organizational skills. Must possess ability to multi-task and have good communication skills. Experience in PR is preferred, but not required.

FILM DEPARTMENT INTERN

Job Description: Assist programmers with competition film entries as well as in researching and marketing/outreach to filmmakers, students and film goers. Help with mail outs and maintaining entries. Assist with obtaining and marketing screenings before and during the festival. Also support staff with screenings, events, and promotions during the festival and throughout the year.

Job Requirements: Looking for a problem solver and self-starter who is organized, detail-oriented, knowledgeable, interested in film and film-related events, friendly and outgoing.

MARKETING INTERN

Job Description: Assist Director of Marketing with research, grassroots efforts and internet marketing strategies.

Job Requirements: People and time management skills, creativity, patience and flexibility. Intern must be comfortable on the phone and a creative writer. Communication/Marketing background a plus.

OFFICE MANAGEMENT INTERN

Job Description: The Office Manager organizes and maintains the Austin Film Festival Office. The Office Manager’s assistants will be involved in Event Planning and Project Coordination as well as maintaining the day to day activities of the office.

Job duties entail: Assisting the Office Manager in answering the phones, creating Excel databases to keep records of reservations, and checking email. Some other tasks included are helping with film screenings around Austin, completing out-of-office errands, and getting price quotes for different projects to be completed.

Job Requirements: Must demonstrate friendliness and have good communication skills. Organizational skills and multi-tasking is a must! Exemplary phone etiquette required.

SCREENPLAY COMPETITION INTERN

Job Description: The Austin Film Festival Screenplay and Teleplay Competition recognizes the work of the writer, opens doors, and creates a networking system for new writers to further their career within the industry. Industry professionals recognize the Austin Film Festival as a widely respected and popular writing competition, with representatives from agencies and production companies participating in the judging process. As a Screenplay Competition Director Intern you would help in the process of logging screenplays, developing databases, maintaining filing, and recruiting production companies for judging.

Job Requirements: Skills must include: good people skills, attention to detail, and a willingness to work. A sense of humor is also a definite must.

YOUNG FILMMAKERS PROGRAM INTERN

Job Description: Assistant to the Director of Young Filmmakers Program. Publicizing the AFF Summer Film Camp. Research (and contact) schools and various organizations through which we can increase public awareness of the YFP. Research various organizations through which we can get money/sponsorship for the YFP. Brainstorming and putting into practice ways to expand YFP (screenings, increasing publicity for competitions, etc.) Mailings for YFP and Membership. Brainstorming ways to expand membership.

Job Requirements: Intern must be friendly, outgoing, patient, organized, and have an interest in youth!
