The Coen Brothers first feature, their own reinterpretation of film noir, tells the story of a Texas bar-owner who is certain his wife is cheating on him. He hires a private detective to follow her, but this is just the beginning of a complex road full of misunderstanding, double-crossing and deceit. With deadpan dialogue and the sweaty backdrop of a Texas summer, the film gained immediate cult status and opened the doors wide for the Coen’s to take on other genres and do what they pleased with them. One of the Coen’s richest films that rewards repeat viewings and will never let you hear the Four Tops’ ''It's the Same Old Song'' the same way again.

”It tells a story in which every individual detail seems to make sense, and every individual choice seems logical, but the choices and details form a bewildering labyrinth in which there are times when even the murderers themselves don't know who they are.” – Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun Times
“Blood Simple stands as a high watermark in American independent cinema, a brilliantly plotted and scabrously funny thriller that tweaked the noir genre for a more knowing modern sensibility.” – Scott Tobias, The Onion A.V. Club
